Cat Trap Application

Please read the information below carefully before proceeding to enter your request.

With submission of the form on the next page I/we (the applicant) confirm I/we have understood and agree to the terms and conditions outlined below.

Privacy Note & Legislation Information Dubbo Regional Council will treat in confidence the information contained in this request and will not supply the information to any member of the public without your permission or unless legally compelled to do so by order of the court or other legal reason. Section 32 of the Companion Animals Act, 1998 provides limited rights for the impounding of a cat.

Your obligations regarding the trapping of an animal:

  • To consult with your neighbour/s prior to the commencement of trapping to establish possible ownership of the offending cat;
  • To protect Council's cat trap from damage whilst in your care;
  • To obey all reasonable directions from Council's Rangers concerning the use of the trap and any trapped animal;
  • To report any trapping of an animal to Council within 24 hours of detection;
  • To provide for the animal's wellbeing whilst in the trap, including food, water and veterinary expenses;
  • To protect the animal from harm from any other person or animal; and
  • To return the trap to Council after 14 days or request approval for an extension of time.

Important:

I agree to compensate Dubbo Regional Council for any loss or damage caused to the trap whilst under my care other than normal wear and tear. I further agree to act humanely towards any trapped animal and report the capture of any animal to Dubbo Regional Council's Environmental Control Branch during normal business hours. I grant my consent for Council's Rangers to enter my property to inspect the trap at any reasonable time and to remove any animal from the trap or to recover the trap from my possession.
